You set out with good intentions, you know, with a unique gift idea in mind that will be remembered and cherished - not donated to the next garage sale in three months. Unless, of course, you're totally in control, you go specifically with your gift idea in mind and drive directly to the store you know sells it. You walk in - you walk out. End of subject. Right? Well, I guess some of us are disciplined enough to do that - I'm not. Can't help it. I'm just not. I get in the store and hyperventilate within the first ten minutes. Everyone is different, we are not built of the same caliber. Even Christians are not identical in personality or mannerism - after all, we are unique, too!

Being a Christian does not mean - NO FAULT ZONE. I am guilty of a few unique faults that I have been praying for help on. Each of us are individually mastermind by God - we are His perfect design but we are all embedded with different characteristics. Staying in control of some weaker characteristics is the part that, as Christians, we have to work on to further anchor into Christianity.

The reason I bring this up now is because while I'm on a "shopping subject" I have to admit that one of my weaker traits is that... I am not a wise shopper. I am not. My husband says I have a shopping disorder. Go figure... I guess it's because of things like buying eight different TYPES of hand brushes to bring back home for clean-up after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. "Why EIGHT brushes?!!!", he said (rather excitely I might add). I told him because I didn't know which one to get and besides we may need eight. I am telling you - shopping under pressure is NOT my idea of entertainment.

By the way, I know some of you have been shopping with your spouse and kids periodically. While it's nice quality time with the family, getting out of the house and taking a ride, it can also test your Christian stamina. To shop for a gift with my husband and little boy usually finds me either in the toy aisle or gazing at rubber fish bait in the sporting goods aisle.

So, naturally if I'm there to buy a special and unique gift for someone, odds are - due to lack of time for my gift quest, I'll have to settle for the blue light special and be on my merry way... guess it'll be added to the garage sale boxes...So OK, I have to work on my tolerance scale for department store gift shopping ... OR I can sit right here and shop in the comfort of my own... pajamas!
